Symptoms of Chronic Venous Disease and Possible Treatments

This disease is caused due to a malfunction of the venous valves in the legs. This leads to a decrease in the amount of blood that comes back from the legs to the heart. The first symptom of this disease is called edema. This leg ulcer should be better treated with compression socks instead of surgeries, along with therapeutic measures if it is chronic.

In compression technique, we use elastic stockings to compress the lower extremities. These are of different types, such as rigid, multi-layered and elastic. Each of these is used, depending on what the condition of the patient is and which means are best adapted to it. The best hosiery used in this sense is the one that is qualified and considered the best to fulfill the purpose. The treatment is performed for a general purpose function. First, it helps to control the symptoms. Second, it helps in healing the ulcer. Third, it also helps the patient prevent the disease from recurring. Finally, it allows the patient to go back to normal.

Before the doctor can make recommendations for the type or degree of compression for the patient to wear the socks, he will first examine the patient thoroughly and determine the extent of the damage caused by the disease. Then I would suggest the type and compressions of the socks needed by the patient. Some of the treatments that the physician suggests to the patient include complete bed rest at home or in the hospital for the patient with legs elevated above the level of the heart for patients who are affected by the disease. An antibiotic is recommended if the patient suffers from cellulitis (in which tissues are seen under skin and skin). If a wound is present, the doctor will apply the hydrocortisone cream around the wound but not in the wound. The dry gauze bandage is made with cleansing with soap and water to protect against germs, and elastic compression stockings are worn all the time below the knee, except when going to bed. All of this helps the patient to recover and maintain adequate blood flow.

Since the severity of this condition can increase over time, it is important to see a doctor if you notice any of the symptoms of the condition. Symptoms may be swelling in the lower legs or ankles (especially after prolonged sitting or standing); Pain in the legs; Tiredness in the legs; recently varicose veins appeared; the skin of the legs or feet begins to peel and/or itch; Stasis ulcers; and skin that looks leathery on the legs. Waiting for these symptoms to disappear is not effective, so it is important to see a doctor immediately, as treating the condition early may lead to better results.
Chronic venous insufficiency is most easily treated if it is detected at an early stage. Treatment may vary according to circumstances and some doctors recommend a combination of treatment.

People can be encouraged to avoid standing or sitting for a long time, exercising regularly, losing weight when overweight, lifting their legs over their hearts, wearing compression stockings and practicing good hygiene, especially with regard to the skin. Some may get antibiotics to treat any skin infection.
There are also surgical or minimally invasive treatments such as sclerotherapy, intravenous laser ablation, venous extraction or ligature, venous bypass and others. Whether these surgical or minimally-invasive options may be useful should be discussed with a physician.
